Alexandra has dedicated her career to empowering young musicians and women conductors. Growing up in Brazil, where music education was not prioritized, she encountered limited opportunities, ultimately leading her to leave her home country in pursuit of her career.

Today, her mission is to give back by leading Young Artists Programs in all the organizations she is involved with, along with family and children's concerts, all aimed at inspiring the next generation

As part of the mentoring team for the Taki Alsop Conducting Fellowship, Alexandra works with ten young women conductors each year. She is proud to see these women grow and fulfill their dreams, knowing she is helping to pave a smoother path for future conductors to follow their passion.

TACF
Mentoring program

Alexandra is proud to be part of the Taki Alsop Conducting Fellowship Mentoring Program.

In 2022, The Taki Alsop Conducting Fellowship, with generous support from AT&T and the "She is connected by AT&T" initiative, launched its first Mentoring Program with the goal of mentoring 10 additional conductors each year. Now in its second year, the Fellowship has added 20 additional conductors to the TACF family and is pleased to announce the 2024-2025 Mentee cohort.

In addition to providing free mentoring to additional conductors, the Mentoring Program is providing Mentoring experience to TACF alumni conductors, expanding the TACF network of women conductors, and collecting research and data to create a mentoring model for the future.

During her tenure as Music Director of the Henderson Symphony Orchestra, Alexandra launched the HSO Young Artists Program, expanding the traditional idea of a competition into a more comprehensive and empowering experience. The program continues today, offering young musicians the opportunity to compete with their chosen repertoire and perform a complete concerto with the orchestra.  Building on this impactful model, Alexandra went on to create the Olympia Symphony Orchestra’s first education initiative: the OSO Young Artists Program, which continues her mission of inspiring and empowering the next generation of musicians.

conductor camp

Alexandra developed a Studio for Young Conductors together with Lucas Paiva in 2014. The Studio’s first efforts took place in Sao Paulo in 2015 with an event which garnered the attention of students from all over Latin America and featured some of the Brazil’s most esteemed musicians.

Alexandra and the HSO subsequently partnered with the Nevada School of the Arts in 2019 to develop a version of the Studio called Conductor Camp. Like the Brazilian Studio before it, Conductor Camp was a huge success, attracting young conductors from all over the world to take part.
